F14 Extra functions Expansion
« on: February 11, 2011, 11:49:58 am »

Hi chaps,

I have an F14 Radio where all 4 of the basic channels are allocated (2 x motor ESC, rudder, bow thruster ESC).

I now want to add the following functions but I'm confused by the choice of expander modules available for the F14 - see here for details from Westbourne http://www.westbourne-model.co.uk/robbe-f-series-radios-1733-0.html

1. Lights on-off
2. Fire monitor pump on-off (could be combined with 1 above on a 3-way switch)
3. Crane swing (proportional) or 2-way switch)
4. Crane lower (proportional or 3-way switch)
5. fire monitor swing (proportional)

Can anyone offer advice on the most cost effective way of achieving this please and which modules I'd need?

Any advice gratefully received as I out of my depth a little.

Thanks,

Nigel

If you want to stick with a Robbe solution, then the Multi switch Prop 12-2module and decoder combo is the most versatile and will do all you want.

Your F14 should be able to take the slider controls so that you can have proportional control (I believe there are four slots on an F14)
the switched items can be done with a latching duo switcher (Robbe or others)

Thanks for all the quick replies fellas :-)

The model is a Model slipway Dutch Courage tug which will have twin stick control for the motors plus rudder and bow thruster on the 4 basic channels, then lights on-off, crane swing (prop), crane elevate (prop), fire monitor pump on-off, and fire monitor L/R, anchor up/down.

Hopefully this can all be done with the 4+4 multi-prop as suggested earlier by Dave, although if there's a cheaper way to do all this I'm open to suggestions.

I'd thought of getting the crane working on a sequencer based on a single channel maybe using Action's servo morph gizmos or something similar.

Cheers,

Nigel
