We also have a "Monkey Island" deck, "Promenade" decks, an Orlop deck, a deck that's called a "Flat" (as in where the steering gear is), a Bridge deck that isn't a bridge, a Fiddley deck that doesn't fiddle or is even a proper deck, Flight decks that can't fly. Chain lockers that are in no way "lockers", a "tonnage" hatch that's the exact opposite of its literal meaning. I could go on, but what's the point. Nautical language (expletives excepted) is a language of its own.
Wher else can you find a ceiling that can be a vertical wall or something to walk on? Or floors that are always vertical? Where "proper" ceilings are called deckheads when they should be called deckunders? Enough! BY.

Oh come, come Neil. Orlop decks are for national heroes to expire upon - Lord Nelson for example.
