Kelvin Ricardo E4 Engine
« on: March 09, 2011, 08:08:58 pm »

...Hi Guys...

Following my Father passing away last year I have inherited a Kelvin Ricardo E4 Boat Engine...

Built in Glasgow it has an MoD stamp on the crankshaft...This engine is started up on Petrol then switched over to run on Parafin...

Does anyone have any further  information or experience of this type of engine...I will try to get some pictures of it at the weekend...

...Best Regards...Norry...

Here is your best bet; http://www.sky-net.org.uk/kelvin/petrol/ricardo/index.html.

Kelvin engines are really lovely peices of engineering and fascinating to use, if you can get it running it will be a very stisfying project.

The Engine wouldn,t take too muchto get it running again But i have neither the time or place to do this...

It will most likely be sold to someone wha does...My sister now wants the space in her garage for her own stuff...

Worked with Kelvin K types in my past, start on petrol then switch over to desiel,  there were 3 types each cylinder was worth 22 bhp. 2, 3 and 4 clinders.
