Dragon 1/700 7055 "HMS York" (D98), Royal Navy Type 4
« on: February 26, 2011, 01:27:35 pm »

Im looking to buy this kit to build for my parents as it's the ship my brother (sadly no longer with us) served on.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330417508946&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The question I have tho is this:-
Does anyone one know what year the model is based on?
I want it to be a copy of how it was in 90-92 when my brother served on it

I believe its modelled on how she was in 2005, the only real noticable difference for the untrained eye for her will be the 4.5 gun on the front as she was fitted with the angled gun instead of the rounded one at the end of her life.

She is still going strong - and has just got involved in the evacuation from Libya
Had the pleasure of an unofficial guided tour of her when she was in Corfu a few years ago
As said she is now fitted with the 4.5 mk 8 mod 1 Kryton turret rather that the round mod 0 turret
there are a few minor updates over the years but nothing major that I can think of off hand.

hi ya, HMS YORK has just come out of a major refurbishment/refit where there were several major alterations to her.   One notable alteration is on her stern where now she sports a 'go faster trim tab' plus also, all the electronics on her we supposedly updated and modernised.

There is a build which I did ( in the Warship category on this form ) of how HMS York looks today  :-))

Many many thanks for the speedy replies, so there are no blindingly obvious differences then?

Ive ordered the kit and hopefully will start the build in the near future, plan is to have it built for my dads birthday
