shaft couplings
« on: February 27, 2007, 04:46:19 pm »

Hi,

I am looking around for a coupling for my 48'' steam drifter. The prop will be 60mm driven by a 12v buhler motor, although the drive train will be changed for steam plant when I get the steam stuff done.

Can anyone recommend something suitable? I have looked at dyco, but its hard to tell if they are man enough for the job.

Thanks

Ian

The Dyco couplings will handle the torque of either power plants.

Ian, have a go at your local garage, I know that Opel (Vauxhall in the UK) has some very good couplings with a hard-rubber adaptor which does a brilliant job. It`s used there to power the water pump.
The steel-claws you may drill the hole on a lathe in the dia as you need it....
If you can`t get it, we have an local vendor here in Germany which does it on the dia you need.
It´s called "Power-grip"-coupling and will be used in Powerboats as well.

Hope this was out of any help,

Ian,

RS Components do a range of small flexible couplings that would probably be suitable.
