M/V Norsea Maiden Voyage
« on: March 09, 2011, 05:48:08 pm »

Hi All, I ventured to the park today to put my model through some sea trials. It was a very blustery day and she coped quite well however at one point she resembled a sailing yacht. Thankfully no leaks but due to the weather it was impossible to get really fine control and scale speeds. Maybe next time.

As you can see, A bit breezy. Probably equivalent to hurricane force.

Super :-)) :-)) :-))  Does she have lights ?  What great subjects the ferries are, stylish, modern shape without being ugly, colourful vessels that should be modelled more IMHO.

Concur completely with ALL statements here - what a wonderful model..........congratulations!!!!! I see what you mean by the hurricane force winds  :o - certainly gives new meaning to 'living life at an angle'!!!!

Arrow - more ferries to model are on the horizon!!!!! I promise  :-)) :-)) :-))

Hi there.
Great build just watched your you tube vid. Love alll the lights on her. She wears the NSF livery very well. My ferry role in the wind like yours , bit scary at times.

Hi
Question. After watching your youtube vid again and looking at your photos. I can not see a joint line, Ie two half of the hull join together . so I am intreaged to why you made the hull in 2 halfs then join them?

I may be bias but in my opinion she is one of the best looking ferries currently in service, even by today's standards. At 24 years old she is showing her age a bit. Clyde built to last!
As for the model, and the question about the hull. It was the frame work that was joined then plated over. This was due to a lack of space(length) when I first began the build.

A video is on its way but it may take a bit of time while I wait for good weather. There will be lots of different shots, both from the shore and aboard, day and night. Stay tuned, it will be worth the wait.

While the paddle on my bow thruster is mended by a friend, I thought I'd catch up on some bits and bobs that needed doing. You know the one, that little job that just keeps getting bigger. Anyway with the filling done it's time for a bit more anti-fouling paint, maybe a bit of French blue and a lot of varnish.

Here is a little clip (I might not use it in the end) of Norsea in action. Enjoy!

It may take some time to get the shots I need for the full video because the conditions have to be perfect. I am agonising over the music to use, down to three pieces. I have also upped the voltage to the lights from 3.6v to 4.8V so they stand out better. I have ordered some 1:120 scale Priser figures to populate the deck. If they are strategically placed they should look pretty good.

Funny you say that! Without giving too much away something along those lines is on the short list.
