By my calculations, we'll need a sheet of A1 size (sails are 781mm x 455mm).

Where can such a thing be bought for less than the price of my house please?

Materials
 
All the equipment and consumables you need to make prints are available at Northern Print, from a full range of richly coloured pigments and inks to the finest Japanese papers.

Some materials are provided for use throughout the studio and are included within your session fee, others are available for purchase to both members and the public.

As well as our diverse range of equipment, a range of small tools, such as roulette wheels, burnishers and  wood engraving tools, are available to use in the studio.

Thanks! This is also just the sort of thing I was after.  I had been looking on Google and fleaBay, as suggested above, but could find either A4/3 sheets of film or a whole role at £100+    Buying it by the metre at sensible prices is much more the ticket.

I use 3mm for drafting plans - 24 inch wide rolls - try your local surveyor/engineer and mention scotch! Probably give you a metre off the roll for a donation to his coffee fund. Roll ends don't always load into the plotter so they may have them lying about.

Plastic gift wrapping "paper" (try to find the non-metallised) can also be used. It's about 35 micra but for a smallish boat, that's plenty. Its best cut with a sharp ponted solderin iron as otherwise unreiforced edges are a likely source of tearing.
