About 1955/57 I was an apprentice A friend and I looked at the possibility of building a sports car using an Austin 7 chassis.
At that time a company was offering a fibreglass body for such a conversion.
We never actually did it as we couldn't afford it.
Anybody remember anything about it ?

Regards Brian

:embarrassed: Embarrassed to say, I drive a '02 Citroen Saxo 1.1 Forte nowadays...but a change is on the cards in the very near future. It's been a great little car though, only sips petrol...unlike my previous 2.9i V6 Scorpio which was an alcoholic!  :o

My days of big engined cars are long gone now, Mr Cameron has seen to that.  >>:-(

Pointless putting LPG on the Range Rover now, it doesn't do much millage and is in need of some loving care, and of course if I need to go anywhere I use the 75.

Andy.  :-)

This is my second one, ran the previous one as my only car for about fifteen years. Wouldn't swap the marque. Value for money - 5stars.
Purely a personal opinion, of course.  %)

My 'toy' is a 1968 Reliant GT Coupe (7th one down on Dave Poole's website: www.sporting-reliants.com/Scimitar_SE4_Gallery.htm) - fore-runner to the 5 and 6 - daily driver is a Skoda Roomster - loads of space.

It's powered by the 3 litre Ford Essex V6 - the Straight 6 had 2.5 llitre capacity and was only used on the very early SE4 models. Towards the end of production, there was an option for the 2.5 litre Ford V6.

After loosing me job the other day and after coming out of shock mode, I bought myself a 2nd hand car, (not from Tesco!)
very clean mota, the clutch is warn and a bit fierce but nothings fallen off it yet. (BIG thanks to Bradders by the way for
helping me so much with obtaining the car.) Anyways, this is the first car I've owned in 25 years as I've always had a company
car being a field computer engineer..... sigh, happy days. I've picked up some contract work for a few weeks but that come
to an end as the company  (mega petroleum) hasn't given the sign off for the next phase of the project... interesting project,
mainly because the weather has been so nice recently.

Only a few things need to be done, Bradders did a quick service on it (thanks again), oil, plugs, filters... I didn't know cars still
had them!  :o    - with a company car, someone else pays for everything and it's a day off if it breaks down.  :-))

I had a couple niggles with a few things on the car, ie I didn't know how certain things work, so I ordered an owners manual
from fleabay but it was the wrong model, I ordered another one which turned up today. I was reading through it while waiting
for Mrs Mayhem at Asda, I found out what the 2nd button does in the speedo and also found that there is a "document pocket"
under the passenger seat... special No.1 daughter promptly reaches under the seat and pulls out the full car owner manual and a
bunch or other useful stuff!  {-) Nothing under the drivers seat except a bunch of wiring connected together with "chocolate block" connectors  {:-{

Insurance was real cheap!! £400+ for a 1.4 Citroen Xsara  :o
Also. I find myself driving a lot more carefully and economically than with the company car.

16 Ways to Recognize a Company Car
1. They travel faster in all gears, especially reverse.
2. They accelerate at a phenomenal rate.
3. They enjoy a much shorter braking distance.
4. They can take ramps & bumps at twice the speed on private cars.
5. Oil, battery, tire pressures and fluid levels do not need to be acknowledged until something makes a noise.
6. They have a much tighter turning radius.
7. The floor is conveniently shaped like an dustbin.
8. They only burn the cheapest petrol/diesel available.
9. They only need to be washed when a manager will be visiting.
10. They can be driven up to 100 miles with the oil warning light on.
11. They need cleaning less often, especially inside.
12. The suspension and trunk floor are reinforced to allow concrete slabs and other heavy building materials to be carried.
13. They are adapted to allow reverse to be engaged while the car is still in forward motion.
14. The tire side walls are designed for bumping into and over curbs.
15. Unusual and alarming engine noises are easily eliminated by the adjustment of the radio volume control.
16. No security is need. They may be left anywhere, unlocked, with the keys in the ignition.
