How about this one folks.
Pure muscle power to move it  No go faster stripes or brakes. Had to be towed up hill but down hill a 1in 4 was shear poetry.
I had a special set of “Blakies”   fitted to the soles of my  shoes  which  gave out an impressive display of sparks when braking
At the end of a good run there was a bucket of water waiting for me to cool my feet and put out the fire on the seat before it totally destroyed the car, obviously fireproof trousers were  mandatory .
And oh yes it is me in the cockpit .There is a date stamp on the back of the photo 1943 which makes me about 4 years old
Sorry but on an earlier topic some time ago I said my first car was a Ford Popular. .

I drive an '03 plate Citreon C5 LX HDi estate. She can take a 2m larder fridge in the back if needed,or up to 10 boats,as I've done in the past, and not small ones either. MPG: 43 in town and 58mpg motorway.

...I picked up an N reg Nissan Micra bout 3 years back with 42000 on it for £1000, after I pulled out the stock cassette deck and put in a decent Sony CD with MP3 capability and a pair of Kenwood speakers, it rocked for the past 20,000 miles for work, £15 a week now for petrol and cheap insurance.

But when the family does an outing with the dogs, or I have to transport the Northwind to the pond, its the family roadster, 56 reg Citroen Picasso.

Black 2006 Honda CR-V sport (before they made it look like an oversized hatchback) 2.0 petrol automatic.

A lovely drive, but a bit heavy on juice just now (think I might have a bearings problem).  It's so comfortable and almost drives itself. Oh yeah, and LOADS of room for my band gear / fishing gear... and boats.

I don't drive this but this weekend I will be crewing on it at Santapod raceway.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8J3tJ_YcOg
fingers crossed we get under 9 seconds for the quarter, it normaly run it at 9.4 at 155mph (without nitros) but the team have been tweaking it and we will be running nitros this year (if all goes well)

Its was a 1979 steel rhd car, but now the front end is grp (makes it easier to get to the 9.4 litre engine that way  %%) the chassis was made to fit by a mate who built the car many moon ago and raced it with a 4.4 rover V8 out of a L76 Aussie Leyland car, It was called Pulse Rate back then and still holds the Rover V8 record at a couple of tracks 9.9 seconds, last year it was dug out sold to Gudge who races it now, with Steve who built it as crew chief, as you can see from the colour scheme and signs its raced to promote awareness for MS and the MS Trust, (out of the pit crew of 6 3 have MS. ) Its hard work racing and crewing but always fun, and puts a smile on everyone's faces at the track, plus we didn't do to bad last year coming 10th in the championship (again not back in a rookie year) this year we are going up a class, so will be interesting. If anyone has never been to a drag race I recommend it, you can walk around the pits, talk to the drivers and crews, look at the cars etc. I would say ear defenders are a good idea  {-) I took Heather to a meet last year and she says her ear were still ringing 5 days later after standing track side as 2 top fuel dragsters went past (1/4 mile in 5.5 seconds at 262mph, setting off car alarms with the roar  :} )

This is my intercity commuter, I have no other driveable car for now:

1975 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu, 250ci inline six engine, TH350 automatic transmission, the no options car...

This is my city bike:

1978 Honda Dax, 49 cc, 10 000 kms on the odometer

I also still have a 1979 Chevy Suburban, but it takes two garage boxes to store it  {:-{

Next tuesday, comes a second Honda Dax in stock, a 1974 one, bought it for 100 €  %%

and for the weekends, I also have a sailboat, a 1967 Primaat, designed by van de Stadt back in 1963, this a wooden boat, hard chine, hull is in marine ply, mast is in wood also:

look at my face, do I look happy?

Regards,

Laurent
