RTTL 2754

 8)

I think some members may be interested in this model I acquired today.   It was built from Vic Smeed plans which came free with the December 1958 Model Maker.
As well as that plan I have also seven 10" x 8" original photographs from the Porchester works of Vosper Thorneycroft showing construction and sea trials.   There are also several sea trial photographs of RTTL 2760 by the famous Cowes photographer (his name escapes me)

Has anyone details of the scrambling nets used by ASR launches?
I need to replace the rolled up "onion net" currently defacing my RTTL

Thank you in anticipation

well hello there Banjo - if you have a look on the Master build class for the 64 ft whaleback build you will see how there is a set of scrambling nets made for this model  ::)  aye

Excellent  just the very thing, I thank you.

I can see that the weight of the wooden bar at the bottom would hold it unfurled; would there be a spacer bar at the top?
I would think so, then separate rope fixings to hold it in place?

I remember scrambling nets on various assault courses, great long things.  The rope has an optimum thickness to allow wet hands to grip.

PS Bluebird...say you like my boat......... :}

Wey banjo lad yee hev a crackin bit iv keel thor mind ya;.

aye it's a canny boat there lad; weez winda did ya pinch that from  {-) O0

Hey seriously though; the scramble nets are actually held in place by wooden hoops secured onto the deck - they are similar to a flat D shape - with the same spacings as the vertical ropes in the scramble net.

As far as your boat is concerned, I really do like these launches and I do have the Vic Smeed set of plans for this launch....along with a few photographs from Cdsc123 of particular launches; because it was a 'Twit-up' between building the whaleback or attempting the target towing launch  ok2 ok2 %) %)

Has anyone built the Veron, 28" (710mm) RTTL 2749. I have the plan, not the full 1960's kit, but somehow or other there is always something more pressing.

hi there  banjo

Do you have any photographs of the Flying Bridge area of your model? or the wheelhouse - at the present time I am in the process of re-drawing Vic Smeed's plans to correct the flare on the bow - so it corresponds with the photographs which I have of these vessels.

I am, though, lacking in information about the bridge area.   Any help will be gratefully appreciated on that.
