Spektrum DX8
« on: April 06, 2011, 06:16:51 pm »

Hi folks.

I bought a Spektrum DX8 when they first came out last year and its a wonderful bit of kit.

Now, i have several models but only one with the RX which came with the Spektrum. Obviously these have to be sync'd or matched to each other and the TX can hold 30 model presets which is fine, however is this just for that RX?

Basically, i want to buy a couple of Spektrum RX's with less channels on for each of my models and was wondering if i can sync the TX up to all of them so i just need to switch on the model and then the handset and we're off sailing or can the handset only be sync'd with one RX at a time meaning i would have to remove the RX and move it from model to model?

I've looked in the manual but can't see anything about whether it will or wont.

Hope i've made sense.

You can bind as many Rx as model memories in the Tx.  The best part is that the only Rx that will respond to any inputs you make on the Tx, is the one that's bound to that particular model memory.

You'll only get tememetry with a T-module plugged into the Rx.

Thanks Mark, I'll give it a go.

Is there a particular process/method of doing this?

Not really Dan, everything is automatic.

When you bind your Tx to any Rx, it tells the Rx to only accept a signal from this Tx by using the GUID as part of it's binding process, when you have a DSM2 Tx with Model Match it also sends an identifier, (possibly the model memory number??), as another part of the bind process.

After the bind process, any time when the Rx is switched on, firstly it will search the last two channels it used for your Tx's bind-code, (it does this in case of a Rx reboot due to a low voltage condition called a brownout, to allow a fast reconnection), if it can't find the Tx bind-code, it will then wait, (by 'wait' I mean it will do nothing except put the throttle channel output to the smartsafe position, which is usually 'low throttle' or throttle 'off' but I think the DX8 has a fully programmable failsafe and can set the throttle to any position), and listen on all channels until it finds the correct bind-code will then allow.  If you have selected a different model memory, as the bind-code will be different it won't allow you to control the model and will sit there twiddling it's (virtual) thumbs.

Gawd, I've just read through my reply, and it does seem to waffle on a bit {:-{

Hi Mark,

Don't be daft.

I just assumed that you could only have one binded to the TX at any one time and it would 'forget' the one already paired up. i shall buy a 6 channel RX and try. If that works, i'll buy maybe another which should give me enough for all the models.

Thanks for your input.

Well ordered two 6 channel RX's and have just managed to bind them each on a seperate model setting. Really simple.

Thanks for all the help!
