sea plane
« on: April 09, 2011, 04:53:21 pm »

Every so often i have a thought and then build something different .
Well a couple of weeks ago i had this thought and built a sea plane , yes a sea plane  {-) .
I don't have any photos of the build as it came together that quick , and i didn't get the chance to get the camera.
So it is basicaly foam board and pollystyreen with the odd bit of timber here and there ,
the first trial was a faliure as it dipped prop first in the water ,
i did slip some ballast down the fuselarge but the original sponson's did not have enough buyoncy to hold it up high enough out of the water to clear the prop.
The second session was better apart from the ESC cutting out at half throttle.
But this weekend with the wheather perfect and a freshly charged pack it was back onto the water and the results speak for them selvs .

Ps the plane is ready for recycling at the bottom of the yard .

Plans are out there for a waterbound chugger, also The Flee had suppliers for the float prototype Spitfire as a chugger.

Out of interest, what sort of duration did you get and with what battery capacity?

sorry for the delay , out sorting rabbits .
i had a 7.2v 2500 pack running a 480 motor , and as for the run time at full chat i ran it for a good 10 mins with no noticeable drop .
Oh the plane has now gone to the recyling centre .
