Ahoy
I am new here and i know i will like here everything here is new to me and we all have the same labor of love shipmodeling. i would like to share a ship i served on durring the vietnam war I built this from scratch. I will post some more update pictures of her and add it to this new thread. This is a T3 SE A2 type maritime commisioned tanker converted into a fleet oiler . The U.S.S. ASHTABULA A0-51 she was built in 1943, later in 1968 she was dry docked in san Pedro california for a jumboized conversion by removeing the center section of the ship and adding a plug in the place of the removed center section. the model is how she looked when i served on her in 1964. this is a RC model powered by 1 6 volt dumas electric motor with reduction gearbox driveing two screws.

Hi Frank - the name rings a bell - would she have been in Subic Bay in the 64/65 period.  I visited there on an RN destroyer
both those years.  Great looking model.
