Hoylake my friend is over on the Wirral between Chester and Liverpool

the camera is a keyfob camera 808 from flea bay in a home brew waterproof housing

Shame there were no other subs, that would have looked pretty good, Did you not find any targets, Sorry other vessels to approach, considering it was underwater the picture quality was very good and picked up the sound as well, Might just get one of them..

Recommend the HD 808 keyfob camera for a few more groats- http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-HD-DV-key-chain-Camera-Recorder-DVR-Video-1280x720_W0QQitemZ160546966106QQcategoryZ48634QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Much wider field of view and true 720P video.

In addition, anything larger than a 4GB micro SD card is a bit pointless with these cameras unless you upgrade the on board battery.

A 4GB card will give you about and hour or so of video, and that is as long as the little built in lipo battery lasts.

Most computer screens are HD. Agreed you can recharge them from a laptop, or a car cigarette lighter socket with a suitable adapter.

Nice pond, very clear- is it filtered?

Looks like you have a Version #8 808 camera. There are currently about 12 different versions, and they all look alike, but perform rather differently.

Lots of information here- http://www.chucklohr.com/808 including how to differentiate between the versions and lots of mods and tricks.

I use Version #3 SD 808 and Version #11 HD 808. One of the great things about these versions is you can turn off the time and date with a firmware update.

Tesco currently have the 8gb on offer for about £8.99 .... or it might have been ASDA, definately one of them anyway as I saw it last Friday.

Class 4 or higher needed for HD. Your mobile might have one in. Needs to be formatted for FAT32.

Thanks, bought a 4gb class 4 card off eBay for around £4. My phone has a 8 gb card but I dont want to stick it in just incase it wipes the card. Will just have to wait a few more days to try it out.

It won't wipe it- I've done this before. The camera just writes a couple of extra folders in the home directory.

copy everything off the 8gig card in your phone onto the 4 gig one put 4 gig one into the phone you might have to be a bit mercenary in deleting a bit of stuff if there is too much on the 8 gig to fit the 4 gig but hey you know how to do this you are the Mankster

Interesting camera heads-up, thanks.

Whats in the big bulb at the rear of the Akula? (in real life!).  Looks like theres a hole there, does it trail a sensor?

Hi Mark,

Can i ask what ESC you are using in your Akula.
I am running a Sheerline Akula with an M/Troniks Sub 10 ESC.
The ESC keeps cutting out in forward speed,if i hit reverse forward speed returns  for a few seconds then i have to repeat procedure.

Just read their Gra it looks like your using a 10 amper which I dont think is big enough I think the motor draws more than 10 amps in the water that might be your problem you are hitting the thermal or current overload area of the esc

Hi Mark,

No the esc has a 40amp limit.
Built specifically for submarines  by Mtronics.
My SUB 10 was sold by Mtronics before the Viper range came on the market.
Have a look at Mtronics site under other ESC.

"Bugga" thought I might of hit on the problem then Gra don't know what else to suggest unless your radio has programable travel on the sticks. Or I don't know how you set the travel on that ESC you have, on the one I use I press a button on the unit then stick full forward then full reverse that sets the travel on the unit could it be that ? only other thing I can think of is a fault in the wiring (loose) or the esc has developed an internal problem.
