We'll stop all other boats this year when we run the submarines.

I'm coming, so is Alistair and Roy, AndyN and I believe one or two others are bringing subs along too, so we should have a good showing for the sub aquatic division!

Seems like am enlightened view to have a "subs only slot" , Martin.

With the best will in the world it is difficult to mix surface and subs at events.

It works fairly well in your "home club" where everyone knows and understand each other.

... must fashion a few  fishing floats to look like periscopes, aerials, etc. and slip them into the water when no one is looking.....  %)

If anyone does the standard joke of holding their transmitter and pretending to have a submarine they should be thrown out %)

Or thrown in!

Reminds me once many years ago whilst sailing my Seehund at a club pond, a members wife and daughter were wetting themselves with laughter. I went over wondering what the joke was- they just thought it was hilarious that I'd been intently looking at an empty pond for the last half an hour!

Last time the two were in together some numpty with a destroyer who wasn't looking where he was going knocked the scopes off and did a fair amount of damage to the sail of a sub. Same numpty then had a go at the sub owner because he 'shouldn't have been there'. The two shouldn't be in together...

I heard about that- the skipper of that boat was in danger of digesting his teeth for a week.

Hi!
Very nice to see that there will be a fairly good representation of the submarine division of the hobby! Not knowing the venue - where would I be best directed to go with the car and sub' on Sunday Morning and is there a preferred time I'd be best to pitch up at?
Many thanks to the organisors for finding and providing a specified 'slot' for us sub' drivers to have in the pool without having to think about the surface types and resultant "interaction" both in the pond and at it's side!! ok2 It'll only end in  tears! But having said that.... if said surface type driver is fully aware that there would be "hidden obstacles" it COULD be made quite interesting to watch and take part in. %) Thought's anyone?

Cheers

Go in through the front gate and follow the signs. Basically its down the bottom of the hill, near a huge toilet block, you'll find us no problems :-))

We'll be there all weekend camping, and we generally toddle over to the lake about 9 ish...

Subs and surface boats just don't mix...just ask the owner of the destroyer thing that got in the way of my Patrick Henry whilst I was showing off her emergency surface routine.

The destroyer went down almost as good as the Henry did...
