Shipping/moving
« on: July 07, 2011, 08:52:41 am »

We are making the big move across the pond back to the Great White North and I have a query.

I was curious if anyone has had to ship large parcels to Canada and if so, what service did you use? Time is not of the essence, but care of the items is.

If anyone can recommend either Post Office, UPS, Pickfords or the like we would appreciate your comments and wisdom. We are not taking any furnitutre or electronics, just personal effects, family heirlooms, photos and the like.

Thanks in advance,

Robert

I have used a company to ship my tool boxes etc to finland from the UK and the prices were quite reasonable.

They even shipped one of my RC planes with a 1.5M wingspan

Ill find out the details as I cant remember them now

we use a company called goedis wilson to ship delicate items globally , like wax figures for a waxworks as well as display models in acrylic cases and similar-

http://www.geodiswilson.com/en/

however we always pack/ crate the goods, before handing them over to them...so if you are prepared to pack the goods so you are happy they are loaded correctly then they may be an option for you..

they offer a range of services from shipping  complete shipping containers right down to shipping of single boxes or crates/ tea chests.....

they can ship by road,  sea or air,or all three - whatever suits you and your timescale, - they have offices worldwide and they will assist with all the documents and stuff needed

- yes we use them commercially with work  - but other than that i have no connection with the company other than being a satisfied customer,

From UK out, I used Seven Seas.

They shipped up to 16 boxes (they provide) at very reasonable rates. That was 7 years ago.
