Barry, thank you. I know there are no details but small steps first. Its nice to get a compliment instead of a brickbat!
Next ones should be better. Bryan Y.

Hello "propshaft". Now I seem to be getting the hang of things I will send more comprehensive details after celebrating my 1st photo success. Basic data is that she is 72" x 12" and 4.5" draught. Weight 86 lb. Bryan

She definately looks superb.  I am looking forward to some more detailed pictures of her and seeing a bit more of what makes it go.

Glad you got the pictures to work.

"Baroda" under construction. (may 2005 - aug 2006).
Pottingers plans were for "Bandra" (one of a class) but I ran out of "N's" so changed the name. (Cheapskate).
Original built in 1914 and was typical of her type. Interesting that she only carried 70ish 1st and 2nd class passengers but over 1000 "steerage". During peacetime she trundled between India and the Persian Gulf.

The whole deck from stem to stern lifts off. 2 handles inside. Hull with motors etc. comes in around 22lb. Deck and upperworks about 15lb. Ballast an batteries make up the rest and are fitted once the hull is in the water. Easy even for a 67 year old.
Another shot under construction. Just general before winches, bulwarks etc. fitted.

Kind comments. Now perhaps I can dispel rumours that I have'nt built anything!
Again, under construction but nearly there.

Afloat but not quite complete.
Only 2 more photos of "Baroda" then I will give it a rest. Until later...with another ship.

Excellent work Bryan .
Looks the part on the water and if I can pinch a comment from a plane site " from certain angles you wouldnt tell it from the real one !"
Now thats a compliment thats hard to get in plane circles  ;)

Nice one mate  credit where its due  :)

Looking forward to others

Bryan,

That is just my type of ship, an old british steamer, and beautifully executed.  I particularly like the shot from the stern, she does look absolutely stunning.

I wouldn't hold fire on any more pictures of her, I could enjoy looking at models like this for hours.

Beautifull and thanks for sharing.

By the way I don't think anyone cast any doubts on your own abilities, i think it was rather your views on others that caused things to get off track.

If I were you I would say less and show more pictures!! ;)

Beautiful model....
do these names mean anything to you? did you model one?
Hebe, Bacchus, Gull, Tern, or Guillemot?
you might be of an age to have served thereon

Hi Bryan

Superb build, I aspire to have one as good, maybe in about 20 years after I have learnt the craft.

Did a "stand-in" trip in "Bacchus" in the early '70s. Chatham to Singapore and back round the Cape to Simonstown,
Diego Garcia, Mauritius and Gan. A long way in a little ship. Going round the Cape you could'nt see over the tops of the waves.

Were they those white landing craft with yellow funnels, manned by (I think) B.I  officers - I remember seeing one regularly in the anchorage in Singapore Roads in the sixties ?

Thanks for that, I was in Jardine Matheson at the time and remember someone saying that the crowd on whichever one it was did similar ex pat tours like us - 3 years when I first joined reduced to 2 years shortly after - sounds like a long time now but 2 years in the Far East when you were young, single and shall we say frisky ! passed in no time  ;D ;D

I nearly joined Jardines after serving my time with the Ben Line. Watch this space. Another model coming up soon is a China Steam Nav. boat.  Bryan.
PS  Ever read "Noble House"? I'm sure it was all about the shipping co's rivalry!
