Model-X show, Auckland.
« on: June 04, 2011, 10:54:28 am »

Hi All,

some shots I took today at the Model-X show in Auckland. This is an annual event and the Scale Marine Modellers (www.marinemodellers.org.nz) has a stand there. The show is organised by a group of railway enthusiasts, but there are a number of clubs attending ranging from Meccano to Railway to Mineral and Gemstone as well. I did not take any photos of the other displays. The show runs for 3 days and the first day was today.

Apologies for the quality of the pics - I managed to leave the camera at home and had to rely on my phone - which has quite a delay from when I tell it to take a picture to the picture actually being taken! It took me a while to realise that, so some of the shots are a little shaky.

More pics. You will note that there are a number of models that are local craft - which I think is really good. There are also a number that will be familiar to you as being commercially available plastic kits or mouldings typically made in the UK.

These last two images are of an LCT that is under construction by one of our members - apparently it has been under construction "for a while...". The modeller has also converted two plastic static kits to RC so as to work with the LCT, both shown in the pictures. The DUKW is 6 wheel drive as well as having the prop and rudder functioning!

End of pics.

Hi Roy,

with a slight correction to the spelling, yes, she is the Pateke.

Google produces this which seems relevant: http://www.teara.govt.nz/en/shipping/8/4

The twin steamer is the Resolve kit with two Graham twins and a locally made boiler. It is being built by Ian Donald, secretary of the Scale Marine Modellers club of Auckland. Cant wait to see it in action. Cheers, Ian.
