HIGHEST MODEL TUG BOLLARD PULL
« on: June 12, 2011, 01:39:55 am »

Hi folks,

Can anyone answer the interesting question, what is the highest recorded bollard pull achieved by a model tug of any scale? or alternatively, what is the most powerful model that you have come across?

I am a newbie to tugs and just wondered how far enthusiasts have pushed/pulled development along these lines and how was it achieved ie

What prop(s) used?

What motor(s)?

What gearing/RPM?

How many Amps /Volts/Watts consumed?

Andy

Personally i have a modified wyeforce using 900 motors on 12v with 60mm 5 bladed kort props in korts. I get around 2.5 - 3 kg of pull. I'm going to one day try them on 24v and see what happens.

Some of the other tug guys using bigger props and car fan blower motors achieve a lot more than i do.

It remains an interesting question though.

My tug (1:32nd scale) pulls around the 2kg mark consistently with mfa 2.5:1 motors swap to 6:1 I get about 2.5kg running twin fixed korts, 45mm 4 blade props, of 12v.
