I think that B.Y is a wonderfull modeller, and obviously very skilled, unfortunately I also get the impression of him being a bit eletist with his attitude, I for one have never joined a club because of that, I have been to quite a few and looked around, and asked the usual questions that a novice would ask, sometimes the replies were encouraging, more often than not they were,nt. I asked a question on the forum one time about what I though was Swansea Model Boat Show, with three replies two telling me that it had been moved to Bridgend all fair enough, and
one in no uncertain terms saying that it was,nt Swansea Model Boat Show it was In fact The South Wales Model Show, !!! the same guy on another thread (what do you look like), sent in his photo on a J.Peg entitled at the bottom Swansea Model Show !!!, my point is,, it makes no difference wether you scratch build , or kit build, its all about having a not so good attitude to others, and there lack of experience or skills, sadly I think that is what puts a lot of people young and old from taking up this hobby of ours. One last thing while going around these shows and admiring" all" the models, I, and I am sure others, find it a bit daunting to ask (silly ) questions from experienced modellers who are all sat together behind their club stands, resulting in the novice having to find his own way around certain problems they may be finding in their model. I know that most of them would help at a drop of a hat, but once bitten by attitude, you tend not to go back.
Sorry for being so long winded about this.
