I have the pro boat 50, (lil blue box), if it works how i think it works, that push button yours is actually the on / off

try it in your boat, however turn it on with yout throttle CENTRED, as it may not "arm", mine does that, its a sort of safety feature

thanks catengineman  Richard will have a look on their site later
Ghost in the shell  sorry missed a bit off the description ,there is an off/on switch stuck on the back of the esc with double sided tape aswell as the push release button
and the spec is :- pro boat 40amp 7.2v-8.4v electronic speed controller PRB2114.
tried different ways on start up with the button but can only find forwards.
"NEWS FLASH" not sure if its important but there is a variable pot on the underside of the board, not moved it yet could be for softer starting

Hi portside II,

I have never used or burnt out one of these controlls, but perhaps it's a  forward only version.

If it is a forwards only, then you MUST  fit a schottky diode before using it.

Hi,  Did a quick search on PRB2114 and it came back as a forward only ESC

Just recieved an e-mail about the esc and it reads as follows.
Thank you for your recent email.  There is no programming mode on this ESC – it should work just fine with the radio system you are using.  The red button is an arming switch, which allows you to turn the boat on safely and not activate the motor until that button is pressed.  The unit does not have a reverse feature.  I hope you find this information helpful.
so thats what the button is for ..
