Hi cobyb and welcome to Mayhem.

Have a browse around and you will find all the help you could have with model boats.  The Springer  design is just the boat to learn on and I would advise that You actually help your Uncle build it.

This will cover most of the aspects of boat building and they are a lot of fun to drive.  No worries about doing any damage when sailing.  I've built four and love em !!

Regards

Yes, welcome to the Mayhem Coby!

Once you've got your own Springer, then the fun starts.
Model boats need not be too expensive, many of the boats on here are made from odds-'n-ends found around the house or local shops.
.... several people say most of my boats are all junk!

One of the guys to talk to is Stan Reffin, he doesn't usually bite childrens heads off, or chuck them in the pond.  {-) They are a friendly mob cobyb, even to me.

Stan is definitely the man to talk to - He was very helpful to me and I don't live locally just send him a PM and
I'm sure he will get back in touch.
