Appropriate ESC for graupner 480 BB race
« on: July 13, 2011, 02:08:42 pm »

Hello,

Just looking for some advice on an appropriate esc for a graupner 480 BB race from a 7.2V 4000mah nimh pack.   I believe the motor draws 8A @ max efficiency and a whopping 60A @ stall.   I have a monotronics viper 15 already but don't believe it would be man enough.   would I need to upgrade to a viper 25 with a 20 A fuse between the motor an the ESC?

The application is in a refurbished nikko shockwave hydrofoil, it will be driving through a 2:1 reduction to a submerged prop.   The motor will be water cooled.

many thanks in advance.

Guy  :-))

Why not try what youve got? as long as your fused for 15 amp. A 25 amp esc will still be overloaded at 60 amp.Mtroniks do have any way a built in failsafe.Just make sure you have a means to recover. John.
