The last photo shows a brown box top right, this is one of four such boxes built. they are designed to drop into one of our Pyrotechnic equipped models and operate the bangs and flashes. Each dial controls a servo with either 6 or 10 positions available, while the red switch on the top of the set fires the pyrotechnic effect once it is pre-selected with the dial. Each box is allocated a 'dial' channel and shares the two position red switch channel. This gives us four seperate channels to select with ( in four seperate models ) with a shared firing function. Each box has a 9.6v NiMh battery fitted as well as an arming and test circuit, plus the neccessary connectors to hook into the individual model. The boxes can be dropped into any model big enough to accomodate them, we may also retro fit them into our 1/16 scale WWII village for our amphibious display next year (if we have any allied tanks left by then!!).
So far we have tested them along side each other with the transmitter about 40 yards away and through a brick wall and everything was fine. The units have only recently been completed and have not been to sea yet. The 10 function box is destined for my SS Ohio, however, that build is a bit behind schedule so the first unit may be fitted to one of our merchant ships which is under 'new management' and may want a ready use control unit for his bangs...
