Cable Repair Ship "Norseman"
« on: March 06, 2007, 06:07:56 pm »

This posting crashed and hence the delay.
"Norseman" was built by John Brown in 1923. (with her sistership "Mirror"). I had 2 years on "Norseman" based in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1960's. Living in a museum.

From what I can see of your photos, she looks super. I know what you mean about living in a museum, I served on the St Margaret's of 1943 a MoD cable ship for 2 years.

I wonder if some clever modeller has ever made a cable laying ship that did lay a cable across your pond?!?!  :D

Why did that lot suddenly re-surface? This model (and photos) go back to 1994/5, I like to think I have improved since then!

It would be reasonably easy to lay a telephone cable across the average model boating lake...but an entirely different thing indeed to pick it up again. Good thought for those sleepless nights though.
