Well, if it can't detect a large merchant ship almost alongside, what does this say about its ability to hunt hostile submarines half an ocean away? Must have been doing a Windows 10 conversion, or perhaps her crew were too engrossed hunting Pokemon instead.

re the HMS Ambush incident, sounds like the Spanish are winding themselves up for the 'Gibralter problem' and when we leave the EU. I shall be visiting Gibralter in a couple of weeks so will ask around.

Sad, but even more sad was the fact that as a Lord, he had the power to speak out for what he eventually asked the Leader of the House to raise again...the vote to legalise end of life suffering, and For which he was now wishing for, a 180 degree turn, as he had voted vehemently and campaigned against some 8 years ago.

And sadly, what ever your own beliefs are regarding the subject many have died in degradation and abject suffering since that Lords vote in 2008, because of those votes.

may he rest in peace, as he was a consummate entertainer, and may his dying wishes be thought about more deeply by those who make our laws in this country in future.

On the funny side I remember being taken by my parents to the Whitehall to see several of his farces and laughing with the rest of the audience.

On the serious side. As a Christian but who believes in it, I would love to discuss voluntary euthanasia on here but realise it is not an appropriate forum (nor would the Moderators permit it)

I see the UK government has issued heat warnings.

30 degrees is only just warm, not even anywhere near 100 on the old scale.
We could do with some temperatures like that in Melbourne at the moment

only 13 and showers today.

25 is hot in the UK, Australians are made of different stuff; the window cleaner in Alice Springs, who was wearing a sweater because it was a balmy 41 and the lady in Kununurra who had never been anywhere colder than 30 degrees.

Fortunately we have weather, not climate and it is forecast to be the low 20s by the weekend.
