Yes I saw that one as well, considering they have another Fire tender in more traditional colours you would have thought they would have noticed.. Estimates allow so should attract a few bidders. I am banned!! According to SWMBO.

Who ever did the cataloguing seems to be not the most well-informed person, what I found interesting was the  KM Tirpitz cunningly disguised as an Iowa Class. Not sure most of them will reach the higher end of the estimates. Not sure, I will bother with the round trip at today's fuel prices.

They should post them on eBay, about 3-500 quid each going by standards on that!!


...That said there are maybe just a few worth a cheeky punt though very few pics show the true condition for me.  I had a builders model of the Orelia with me for a while when someone dropped it at work but it was a bit beyond repair though I could have made a better job than that with eyes closed.  It was carved from solid, not unusual for a builders model.  Very heavy!

£40.000 to £60.000 may be a bit over estimated but he's only got to get an average of £60 each and he'll get around £24.000 even after commission it's still not a bad little nest egg, let's face it we don't do this hobby to make money, it's more likely we help the country's economy  .

Hi all I went through all the lots a few days ago all 401 of them.

 If they make £100 each, you do the maths, then there is the auction house in Grimsby it may favour some but for me down south not so, and with a possible courier, it places them too far away.  Then there is the buyers premium to be added.....

Just a thought but a while ago I bought a hull from Nailsea and this was ferried to me by a friend who lived in Long Ashton  when he made his regular visit.  OK with a mate but not sure it would work otherwise.

One problem I forsee with such a large collection. The lots are many and potential (serious) buyers are few. In crude terms, supply on the given day may exceed demand on the given day. Some models may be seriously fought over, other may be overlooked as a result. People may not bid on the earlier lots if they have an eye on later lots. Some models may be Going for a Song, to use the name of the old show that preceeded of The Antiques Roadshow.

Just out of interest.... if you buy from an auction house like this is the bid price the final price or are there additional fees on top?
