Thanks chaps!

Found this :

What is Buyers' Premium?

Buyer's premium is the additional auctioneer's fee that is added for buying a lot at auction. It is calculated as a percentage of the hammer price. For any lot that you win, you will need to pay the the hammer price + the buyer's premium.

On our website, all buyer's premiums are displayed inclusive of VAT, where applicable.

For example:

An auctioneer's buyer's premium is 15% including VAT.
You win a lot in the auction for a hammer price of £100.
The total that you will pay for the lot is £115 (excluding any additional charges such storage or shipping fees).

It is suggested that you have considered the buyer's premium when calculating your maximum bid prior to bidding.

1. I tried registering but it such a faff.... ( I know security, fraud etc ...)

2. Someone with half-a-mind  ( and a warehouse somewhere )  could clean up here,  there some seemingly very desirable
boats on offer - ( but difficult to tell from the  photos /  not in person ).

3. Auction fees are quite high!

Some of the Lots I'll keep an eye on / kicking myself afterwards!
 - 41, 43, 83, 98, 112, 156, 157, 170, 180, 182, 219, 220, 287, 294, 311, 323, 331, 341, 348, 364, 397

If I really wanted any of the boats, I would only go and bid in person.... but:
 it's 5 hour round trip,
 I don't have the space,
 "You've  #£%}*!  got enough already!"   <*<

I'm guessing that this bloke ACTUALLY did what many of want to do

As Tigertiger said the sheer amount of them maybe the down fall, may have been better for him to have taken his time and put say 10 at a time up for auction over several weeks, plus with that many models crammed together with punters pawing over them breakages are inevertable. {:-{

Painful to watch just saw a Port Garth go for £150 but as we all know too well our loveingly crafted models seldom realise thier worth when sold.

Would not be surprised if 1 bidder purchased the majority of the boats.

Notice has been given to dismantle the historic steam tug 'Cervia'. The tug has been in poor condition for some time.

Looking on the internet and old magazines, this was a popular tug for (us) modelmakers. Model Boats plan MM567 by Vic Smeed is currently available from Sarik. The accompanying magazine item was in Model Maker December 1959. Stunning art work, of the tug, on the magazine's front cover.

Lots of models of her.  I made mine in the early 70's from the Model Boats plan.  Not quite to plan but she is still going strong.   I sailed her last Sunday.  O0

it is so sad to read the article about the Cervia tug having to be dismantled.  She has had a chequered history / past.   If I remember correctly she has already been on the bottom of the river bed with unfortunate loss of life.   I believe that was an accident.  But, for her to be on the bottom this time is sadly neglect by our country not supporting its heritage.  For a country that is supposed to be so steeply involved in the history of the sea, they certainly do not like to put hands in pocket to upkeep our heritage.  So sad.

If you care to look on the master builds on this forum, there is a full build of this tug from the said plan by Vic Smeed.

Saw this, impressive workmanship.  And puts some perspective on the risks involved in building model boats in certain locations...
