BBC obviously quite slow as it was in the current news link, I wonder what happened to the ship, the salvage must have attracted a few.

Perhaps of interest, since they share the waters with boats?

In the Mind of a Whale How can we make sense of the biggest brains on the planet?  by Tom Mustill
   September 6, 2022 | 4,200 words, about 21 minutes

There are many scans of dolphin brains, but very few of whale brains. This makes sense given that the biggest hospital scanners can scarcely accommodate a very large human, let alone an animal the size of a small hospital ward. Fitting an adult humpback into an MRI would be like trying to get a melon through the hole of a bagel. The two baby whales Reidenberg had procured were just small enough to fit.

Quote
One study concluded that humans have five times the information-processing capacity of cetaceans, whom they placed beneath chimps, monkeys, and some birds. But in the same study, horses—with smaller brains than chimps—were found to have five times the number of cortical neurons. Does this mean horses are smarter than chimps? A major confounding factor in these types of comparisons appears to be that every factor is itself quite confounding.

Australia does it again!
Tidbinbilla deep space complex near Canberra (successor to Honeysuckle Creek that received the first Moon walk pictures)  received the signal from the DART spacecraft as it crashed into the asteroid today, Australian time.

This was announced some time ago.  Quite right really, I bought a new 7in tablet for work a few months ago and was appalled it had a micro USB socket these days.  If I recall Rece Mogg was against the move but that's not so much of a surprise.

This was the EC Parliament. Given the great dislike in the UK parliament for anything EU I don't see any guarantee that it will happen here.

See no reason why they are poking their noses into a manufacture's business when there is no real issue.

Incredible, I was lucky enough to be (one of many) divers on the Mary Rose, and that was bad enough with the bottom current (and to be fair Bl**dy scary)  {:-{

Well done Phil!

I've visited the Mary Rose at Portsmouth several times, both before and after the new museum was built. Last visit was in September after some further improvements had been made. It is an incredible sight, and not just the ship but the thousands of items recovered and preserved which provide such an insight to life in Tudor times.

  The Mary Rose experience is something that just takes you over . They have made a fantastic job of it. Not only the whole half section of the ship displayed in a very atmospheric setting with visual/audial displays and explanations but the fact that it is in a humidity and temperature controlled chamber gives the exhibition an out of the world and back to the days of Henry VIII sensation. The surrounding display of artefacts really takes you on board also that you can try your hand at a pull of an original longbow ( about 60lb draw weight ) examination of their skeletal remains has shown that Archers from those times had deformed spines from constant pulling such heavy weapons.

Good decision although I bet a lot has been spent already.
