Some of us are missing the point regarding intellectual property rights which relates to an original idea, thought /research such as in the medical field.
Reusing ideas from the days of Adam onwards, eg the wheel are not copyright theft/illegal etc but are public domain property belonging to us all.

So to with props, figures hulls etc unless there is something, New and Unique in the design/idea, such as the winged keel on "Australia" there is no copyright infringement.

Don't know about UK, but simply put if you copy something, a book, DVD, Cd, etc (which you have already bought) for your own use then no problemo.

At the end of the day you and I will be on the jury if it ever gets to court and guess what, Not Guilty as commonsense will prevail.

The PC police definitely will lose this one.

If party A sues party B, there will be no jury.

Sometimes laws are unworkable, you can't sue a man of straw, as they say. Don't mean it is legal though. Don't mean the law ain't stupid either.
This ain't PC police, unlike my comment about the Chinese. I only just seen the PM BTW. This is more CMA.

Intellectual Property Rights?  Read this:

http://www.jisclegal.ac.uk/Portals/12/Documents/PDFs/IPROverview.pdf

Being in the process of creating a new business, where 90% of the 'process' is a product of my 'creative mind' (designing) - I read this with interest.

I had a read through that. Bottom line appears to, if you start making money out of someone elses design you're likely to be infringing copyright. If it's just a hobby pursuit for fun, who is going to have a case to answer?

How does the theme of 'The future of our hobby' get hijacked into the copywrite thingy?
I thought this would could have been interesting.

Probably because of the "paranoia" in sharing ideas  etc etc etc and so called infringements, and maybe the tendency for people to threaten legal action by abuse of the legal process, about anything they don't like.
You have just hijacked the thread even further.  O0 O0 O0
That's how easy it is {-) {-) {-)

As the OP of this thread - yes is has gone a tad 'off beam' but the two could be linked!!!!

My main concern was for the well known manufacturers of this country continuing in business...............

Now - this can be threatened many ways : retirement...... economic downturn....... and outside influence. And by this I mean the cheap 'knocked off copies' from certain far-east states.

THERE - Thread back on track and all themes / arguments linked!!!!!!!
