Always worth revisiting. The 10' model used in the film was on Ebay about three years ago, I know, "what model? It was a full size ship!" Exactly what I thought, till I remembered running the blockade at night. It was a solid hulled model and looked 'of the era'. However, it was 10' long and no doubt stuffing heavy, so sanity prevailed and now I have to satisfy myself with watching the film repeatedly instead.

it's always intrigued me, as apparently most of the filming was done on the Medway...what was the ship used as the coaster that Amythist followed just after she slipped anchor at the start of her epic run.......anyone know.

HMS Amethyst (U16/F116) was a Modified Black Swan-class sloop of the Royal Navy. She was laid down by Alexander Stephens and Sons of Linthouse, Govan Scotland on 25 March 1942, launched on 7 May 1943 and commissioned on 2 November 1943, with the pennant number U16. After World War II she was modified and redesignated as a frigate, and renumbered F116. :-))
