Slightly misleading title, but I was trying to be succinct. Was waiting for the wife in the library reading room today, reading the Sun (all the good stuff was taken) and came across a small piece, the gist of which is - Lt.Cmdr Sarah West has been appointed captain of the Type 23 Frigate HMS Portland. According to the paper she is the first woman to be appointed captain to an RN frontline warship, though she has captained various auxhilliaries before.
