B&Q stuff is very poor grade very brittle crap on a lathe ok to solder to if you only want short lengths but I take it you want hand rails  give http://www.chronos.ltd.uk/acatalog/Engineering_Menu_Brass_Round_CZ121_371.html   a ring they may be able to supply longer lengths

Also try   https://maccmodels.co.uk/index.php?cPath=254_53_291&osCsid=e07b658010f7e651120947b71840bfc7  they do cut the rods themselves so may well sell you longer lengths if you ring they have for me. also a member of the forum now I think

sent Chronos an e-mail and very quick reply, but they only do 12inch lengths

Still impressed with quick reply and have put them in favourites.

don't forget they do free postage as well which is handy also look on ebay as they have a shop on there and there is sometimes a difference in price of larger items, not a lot but worth looking , the mill vice I was buying was £8 cheaper on ebay from them.

Have you tried your nearest non ferrous metal supplier for the brass, some will stock it at 3mt lengths, this is how I obtain all my brass and stainless steel, you just cut off what you want.
