Hi Mermod, your build is coming along very nice, In the background you have a lathe like mine. Have you seen the quick change tool post that is available for it ?. You will never use the original again if you get the quick/change one, it is a dream to use & very fast too. Mick B.

G'day Phil,
You've certainly been doing a lot of construction in the last week since  I was down. She's starting to show those beautiful lines
of the super structure.

Cheers

Hi tassie 48, the workshops always a bit messy, im running out of room so i cant really clean up I can only move stuff around.
irishcarguy, thanks for the advice , would love a few more bits for the lathe but im still getting over the setup cost.
Bill, she is coming along ok, the plans are a bit vague when it comes to the upperworks so its becoming a compromise between the plans and the photos.

The Bourbon is looking very good so far.  Really interested to see the laser-cut superstructure coming together.

The other hull, the one you had cut in two from the US, is that one of Harbor Models' 'Invader' tugs?

Hello

Yes ZZ56  it's an Invader hull from Harbor Models cutted in two part the shipment USA/Europe fell down from 1100 us dollar to 65.  As for more than 46 inches you have to use Fedex / UPS (Fedup as in the joke   :D )  but cutted in two you can use regular postage system.

Nice idea Mermod to built a template superstructure.  It looks good.  Beleive me or not but I've seen many "strange looking wheelhouse" as it's not so simple to obtain each face size and angle !!

I'm impatient to see how you will built the model one. Nice thread and nice built

Xtian

PS Norseman : what about the flag, you are not searching for this Brest yachting burgee ?  oups I gave a clue   ;)

Thanks guys, I wasnt looking forward to all those angles, even though the cutting is quick and easy with the laser you still have to measure off the plans and re-draw it all on the computer, with the wheelhouse I had a floor plan to work from , I knew the finished height and the overhang of the windows so it pretty much fell into place, ill try to put up a picture of the drawing process for this bit tomorrow, it might help someone.

Hi Dave, theres usually a reference to sharks with frickin laser beams on their heads as in Austin Powers, and I get asked if it would cut a finger off quite alot.
Its hard to get an idea of the cutting from a photo but if you look on you tube and search for Epilog Helix theres a few good videos on there, spiders, hmmm.
heres a good link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4A_zRPVjxc

Go for the detailed bridge internals. I am please I did on my Orca, it really finishes it off, and, you will be surprised how many people look in there. Also, go for proper control desk modelling - use fibre optics to get lights on the desks to simulate control lamps etc. Its worth the effort.

Hum hum

I well know one : the Abeille Bourbon,  I also seen the second : the Abeille Liberté (take care she's not the Abeille Liberty as in the topic title)   But what about this third one ?   %%    {-)

Maybe the first grey algerian navy ?  Not so sexy colour scheme I think !

Very good job  :-))  !  How many of them you intend to build ?
