Hi Mick

I'd admire a guy with a pointy stick if he used it; but yes nice to have the right tools.
You also have to have a vision though  and it doesn't have to be a grand one.
Mermod's build has been nice to watch and in an impressive scale - but I'm so glad
he didn't choose a catamaran.

No Mermod - just two big hulls for every big boat - as if you aren't busy enough already.
hmmm, having said that, I wonder what the world's largest Catamaran is? :} ..................

http://www.allseas.com/uk/19/equipment/pieter-schelte.html due 2013 some pix and
animations to the right of page. A really big boy's build!!!

Thanks cos918, glad youre enjoying it, yes I have seen that build before, he does a great job of it, probably easyer to transport than mine :} interesting to see he also uses acrylic sheet.

Finally, I have some clear acrylic and start the actual superstructure, would you guys like a blow by blow account of the build in acrylic or have you seen enough of the mdf test? here's some piccies of the upperworks straight of the laser.

Been a while since my last post, been renovating before the new addition to the family arrives, not much to report on the build of the Abeille but I did fire up the motors on the bench today, they seem very torquey on 24volt, very nice motors.

Been quite a while but I'm back into it, here's a picture of the shaft assembly jig I knocked up to hold the shafts perfectly inline  for silver soldering to the cross support.

Hi Dave, it's been too long I know  but life is getting back to normal now bubs a bit older, also I had a job, that slowed the models a bit but that evaporated like most employment down here at the moment, oh and I started a 14ft tug (must update that build aswell)

A truly sad day today, Keith aka Kiwi who was one of the driving forces behind this build passed away yesterday, his was hull No3, It will be very difficult to continue this build without him as we would spend hours contemplating the photos just to work out the position of a single window, a truly great friend and I will miss him greatly.

Hi Phill

So sorry to hear your good friend has passed on. It happened to me recently and I can't work on some things yet. Eventually I will and I am sure you will too, mainly because our friends would want that.
