sorry guys, no updates just yet   I have been flat out trying to get my star perseus ready , the blower motors have been replaced with 510 kv brushless motors, she runs well in the test tank but I'm busting for a sail  on our local water, oh   and I'm also trying to develop a range of laser cut fittings ( watertight doors, handwheels , hatches etc ) but as soon as this is under control i will be straight back onto the abeille.

G'day Mermod,

Very pleased to have run into you while down at the pond. After you mentioning to me about your build I thought that I'd look it up.  What can I say other than Wow impressive!!

I shall be keeping a close watch on this page to see the progress.

Cheers

Thank for the positive comments guys , they are very much appreciated, I will definitely keep you guys informed as far as a kit goes, at the moment the guys down here are treating it like the models that come in the magazines, so as one part is finished or as they can afford it they purchase the next bit and do a bit more.
As for anyone outside of Australia I plan to glass in a central separation bulkhead so the hull will arrive in two parts that need to be bolted back together, this should make them easier to send.
By the way irishcarguy if you look at the last photo you can just see the lathe I was talking about in a separate post on small lathes.

Yes I can see the lathe in the background. I am learning to use mine .I have had it for about two months now. By the way my name is Mick, not a bad name for an Irishman. I think you are using a wood lathe to turn the Korts though. I think you will be surprised with the demand you will get for a kit of your boat when you have it available, it looks like you believe in quality & it shows. Mick B.

mold finally finished, just a quick sand to get rid of the sharp bits, at this stage the plug is still in there and the whole thing will be left alone to harden for a few days, at this stage it is very hard not to get excited and pull it out but the mold will distort if removed to early.

from the beginning of this build we were placing bets as to whether or not it would fit in my test tank, width wouldn't be a problem but we weren't sure about depth (the tank being curved on the bottom) so we sat the first hull in the water and then hunted for 80kgs of ballast...........luckily that sort of weight was easy to find.

Presumably you will make the ballast removable? 80kg is a heck of a lot of weight to carry. What do you think you'll use as ballast when the model is done?

hello 110samec , my speed controlls are capable of about 40volts so ill fill it up with as many batteries as is practical, a 12 volt 24 amp gel cel is around 20kg so a few of them should just about do it.
Also I plan to make a fairly substantial trolley that it can live on and be launched from, Ive already had one lot of back surgery and dont really want any more.

Hi Mermod, don't you know you should wear a life jacket when doing tests like that. LOL. It is enormous, I did realise that it was so large, It is coming along very well.WOW. Mick B.

Hey Phil,

Looks frigging awesome .
Bet Keith and Steve will be shocked at the actual size and the ballast required for trim.
Rung you before I left the country but kept getting your voicemail.

Will it be alright if I come down before I fly out again early January?

Btw, I drilled out the other 2 shaft positions. Like you said to Keith "don't know how you work without a Dremel".  Well I'm so thankful I have mine made easy work of the sanding and grinding .

Hope you,and the family have a great Xmas .

Cheers

Hi bill , I have a bit of a love / hate realationship with that phone, probably easyer to email or pm me.
How did you go with the position of the a frame supports for those shafts, I think that will be the next interesting job, did you get that deck cut out?
Just give us a yell when youre ready.
By the way, I found a bag of your fittings on the driveway the other day, I think they might be air vents of some kind.
Hope you also have a good christmas and get alot of boat related prezzies.
