Hi all, Kirklees Model Boat Club would like to thank the following for their efforts in making the day a success.  Sheffield MBC, Surface Warship Association and representatives from the following clubs: Bridlington, Bury, Ribble, Goole, Grimsby & Cleethorpes, Runcorn and District and Help the Heroes.  Also the following: Mountfleet Models and Leeds Large Scale Hobbies.  If I have missed anybody else off I do apologise.  The weather was kind to us again and it was nice to see so many types of warship models.  The sum of £88 raised for Help the Heroes was fantastic for the short time the collection box was out.  Well done Rex and your team.

I personally would like to thank everyone that has put a message on Mayhem for your positive comments.  There will be some pictures to follow later. Feeling very tired now as it has been a long day.  I will close now but the date for next year's Navy Day will be Sunday 9th September 2012.  The first lot of infomation for all our major events will be posted on Mayhem in mid January 2012.

Hi Lifejacket,
Yes, she is my boat. She is Appleby, formerly known as RMAS Appleby.
MVS Appleby, as she is now known, is a 24m converted Mk1 Fleet Tender and now the flagship if the MVS.
Built in 1964 by Isaac Pimblotts of Northwich and powered by Lister Blacksone dry sump engine. She is now used to train volunteers of the MVS in the operation of coastal craft as a crew for team building in the Solent.
Aberdovery Class Navy Support vessel.
To view her full history go to:
www.mvs-portsmouth.co.uk/MVS_Appleby/appleby_history1.html

This model was scratch built in 1999. I actually met the original builder at CADMA this year.

Regards

On behalf of Sheffield Ship Model Society I would like to say Thank You for the excellent day put on by Kirklees Model Boat Club and the hospitality shown to all of us. The tea ladies were brilliant, supplying us with the vital ingredients all day and the raffle ladies who made sure everyone got a choice of every colour of ticket on sale. Special thanks to Stan and his team for their hard work throughout the day. Hope to see you all on 2nd October 2011

Our stands and views firstly; Then the rest...

 Note how Rob manages to cadge a seat....

It gets a tat busy...

Our views out...

Tony readying to sound Edinburgh's ships siren and scare the living daylights out of a passing kid

'Bob' fine tunes his espionage skills when Rex isn’t looking (TOP SECRET - Inside Hermes)

Another spy is stopped in his tracks by Rex

A view over the pond and park

Just what I like to see at a show, a modeller who engages with the public and shows his models, rather than just sitting back drinking tea

 8-)

The problomatic Autumnal leaves which the Kirklees MBC lads did their best to clear from the pond kept fouling my props

Great to see some Submarines in action 8-)

Our grumpy grew, hot tired and sweaty ready to collapse after packing away...

Great pictures Cloggie,
just one question,
when adding images to post, what size do you choose from the resize choice ?
I don't seem to be able to get them any larger than my posts.
I know that I am about as computer literate as a Neanderthal,
so any help is appreciated.

Hi Richard, On photobucket click on the downward arrow next to your user name, this opens a menu for  ACCOUNT SETTINGS cllick on that option and then another menu appears; Personal Info etc, Select ALBUM SETTINGS; another page appears and on the fifth line down click on the BLUE writing which says VIEW UPLOAD OPTIONS,  This then gives you the size menu and select 640 x 480 and you should have the same size photographs as I dispaly here.

Re: Rob, yes HMS Starling did catch the eye, thats why I took a lot of shots...
