"Growing up"

According to todays regulators and bureacrats, those of us who were kids in the 50s-60s-70s-80s probably shouldn`t have survived, because our baby cotswere covered with brightly couloured lead-based paint, which was promptlychewed and licked. We had no child proof lids on our medicene bottles,or latches on doors or cabinets and it was fine to play with pans.We rode our bikes,we wore no helmets just flip flops and a bright couloured "spokey dockeys" on our wheels. As children we rode in cars with no seat belts or air bags-riding in the passenger seat was a treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle and it tasted the same,we ate chips braed and butter pudding and fizzy pop with sugar in it but wewerenever overweight(wot a liar)because we was always outside playing we shared 1 drink between 4 friends from a can or bottle and no oneever died from this we would spend time building our go-karts out of scraps and then went to the biggest hill and sped down the hill only to find out weforgot the brakes after running into stinging nettles and a few times we learned to solve the problem we would leave home in the morning and play all day as long as wewere back before it was dark so no onewas able to reach us and no one minded we did not have play-stations or x-boxes,no video games at all no 99 channels on tv,no movies no mobile phones no dvds no surround sound  no computers no internet chat rooms we had friends we went out to find them we played rounders and sometimes that ball really hurts ! we fell out of trees got cuts and bruises broke a few bones but there was no law suit we had fist fights but no prosecution followed from other parents we played "knock down ginger" (remember)and run away we walked to friendshomes we also (believe it or not)walked to school we didn`t rely on mummy or daddy to drive us to school which was just around the corner we rode our bikes in packs of 7 and wore our coats just by the hood the idea parents bailing us out was unheard of if we broke the law this generation has produced some of the best risk takers and problems solvers and inventers ever the past 50 yrs has been an explosion of innovation and new ideas wehad freedom failures sussess and responsibility and we learned how to deal with it all (and your one of them)pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow up as real kids this my friend is surprisingly frightening and it might put a smile on your face the majority of students  today were born in 1986 they are called youth
