Aircraft Carrier Section Move on the Clyde...
« on: August 15, 2011, 04:30:12 pm »

...Hi Guys...

I thought i would give anyone local to the River Clyde in Glasgow, The Heads Up on the first Aircraft Carrier Section being moved from Govan down the River Clyde to Greenock to meet up with the Sea Going tug for the tow to the shipyard at Rosyth...

It all happens Tomorrow (Tiuesday)...The River Clyde will be closed to all other traffic from around mid Morning till 9 pm...Due to leave Govan around Mid Day...

It should be quite a sight from Braehead Shopping Centre as the tugs manouvre the barge past in one of the narrowest parts of the river...

The Heavy Lift Barge AMT TRADER will be moved by an assortment of Tugs including all  of the Clyde based Fleet...

...Hi Guys...

I spent a very wet lunch time in the Rooftop Car Park of Braehead Shopping Centre watching the Barge & Tugs go passing by...

SVITZER MILFORD & ANGLEGARTH were on the bow and AYTON CROSS was on the stern...BATTLER was running ahead of the job ensuring the river was clear...

unforunately my camera has decided to stop playing since it was dropped on holiday recently...

I took a drive down to Greenock last night & saw the tow being passed over the sea going tug ERACLES.
AYTON CROSS was still on the stern for another wee while until they got round the Cloch Lighthouse...

There are loads of pictures on the Clyde Maritime Forum web site...

A quick run down to Greenock after teatime.  Managed a few photo's in spite of the dreech conditions.

Richy thats a lovely Scottish word "dreech" really describes the weather these past few days. What a size - hope they have
good weather round the Pentland Firth,,  thats an expensive cargo to lose over the side. Thanks for the pics.
