There's no little hole as far as I can see that would bind the receiver. Still no light... There's a bind button on my transmitter but not the receiver. Here are some pictures. Also there is a battery plug that goes into the boat and also one that goes into the transmitter. So, if I have the bind cord in the battery plug, do I just have the battery sitting around? I have the battery plugged into the servos but there's another cord that goes into the servo. Still, either way it doesn't turn on or make a light or anything.

Thanks

Here are two pics of just the boat in general.

I think on that HK you should have the following positions.
Take out the bind plug for a start, they are programmed at the factory normally.
Position 1 is for the rudder.
Position 2 is for the Sail servo or Position 4
Position 3 is normally for your ESC or battery.
Check to make sure your connections are placed in correctly eg the plus and minus are the right way.
Give the battery holder with the 4 batterys a good check and jiggle it around. sometimes they play up too. I have the same set with no probs at all. So retry that before you start replacing things yet.
Ok

It's just not doing anything. I've tried every  combination of servo plugs and channels, I've replaced the batteries in the batter pack, I've done everything. Could there be something wrong with the servos? Even when I turn them on nothing happens to the receiver or servos. It just seems like nothing is connecting to the receiver. Should I call Hobby King and see if it's defective or something?

Binding instructions from Hobbyking

TO BIND:
1. connect the Rx to a Battery notice the blinking led
2. hold down the bind button on the bottom of the controller
3. turn on the controller while holding down the bind button and watch the led
4. when it stops blinking you are done (less than 5 secs for me).

Plug the bind plug in as per instructions
Plug the battery pack into any set of pins
making sure the polarity is corrected
You should get a flash of the led in the RX
Switch on the TX wait a few seconds then press the bind button on the TX
Led on RX should flash a few times as it binds then led should be steady
Switch everything off take out bind plug and plug battery pack into the socket bind plug was in
Plug servos into throttle and aileron sockets Throttle Sail servo Aileron Rudder
Switch on all
If no joy then try a different RX

Correct Richard
Forgot to say the bind button should be held down while powering up the TX
Thats the important bit :-))

Apparently if you plug the battery in the wrong way round you burn out the receiver.

Well, no blinking light, no light at all. I think the receiver's dead or something but the way the battery is and the way the battery has always been in there is the only way it fits so I don't think I've burned it out.

Servo leads should have the black lead on pin furthest from the label.  :-))

Yours in your photo would appear to be the wrong way round.

Been away, but it looks like you got some very good advise. I seen in the photos your boat came with very good servos! Back when Kyosho sold these boats with the servos and radios included they came with the Futaba S38001 sail servo and the S 3004 rudder servo. Sadely Futaba decided to discontine the S3801 the do still offer parts should you ever need them.

It appears at some point there has been some water inside the hull, and rusted some of the screws that hold the servos in place. It is always a good idea to keep your hardware as clean as possible and free of corrosion. Make your your connectors are not rusted inside - can prevent a proper connection and flow of electricity.

Another thought beyond the balloons, would be to put a piece of sponge in the hull to absorb any small amounts of water that may make it inside the hull. Be sure to remove it when you have finished sailing for the day and remove any water still in the hull. Also when not in use, leave the boats hatch cover off to let any moisture trapped inside to dry out.

Kyosho sells parts from their web site so should you require any replacement parts they are one possible source. I image there are a few local hobby shops in the UK that sell parts for these boats as well.
Here is a link to the Kyosho parts web page here in the US. They may have one over there as well. I have ordered from them and had no problems.

Enjoy your new boat.

Great! I'll put a sponge in. I bought it used at a yard sale for fifty bucks so I have no idea where it came from or what's happened to it. I live in the US, what's the link again??

Thanks

besides having my rx and battery packs inside balloons  and having a smear of sealant around the joins in the cases of my servos ive been putting a couple of sachets of silica gel inside the hull of my boat , one of my earlier mods was to replace the oe hatch for a thick perspex item

The other forum is called rcgroups.com here is a link to the sailboat section: http://www.rcgroups.com/sailboats-59
As you will see it is a pretty active fourm. There are lots of good threads on Seawinds, Nirvana, and many other rc yachts.

The forum is not limited to sailboats, and has something for most every interest. Check it out.
Didn't realize you were here in the States. There are plenty of places in the US to get parts for your Seawind should you need them.

Here's a photo of her sailing. We didn't take her too far just because it was the first time and I didn't want to find out something's not working in the middle of the lake. :D But, she sailed great, can't wait to take her out again. Thanks for all the help!

Also, any thought on sailing in salt water?? Should I just keep sailing in the lake? I'm concerned the salt water will damage the hull or something....

Thanks
