Telstra Call centre, sign of the times ????
« on: August 20, 2011, 10:43:37 pm »

Telstra, long, long, ago, before being privatised, was PMG and is Australia's main telephone provider.

Telstra, continues to cut jobs and outsource its operations off shore, India & Philippines.

Oh dear, I have an account with Barclays Bank and a credit card also, I have tried online banking with them...HA...don't bother! after two phone calls to India trying to sort out the 'glitches' they are top of my list for the chop.

I also have a Natwest account, no problem there, call centre is in the UK.

Enough said.

My own opinion of Indian call centres is low. They speak far better English than i do Indian but its still not good enough. Also their ability to help is poor .often not understanding or able to deal with the problem.John.

If you get through to a call centre in Asia always ask if you can speak to some one in England, most companies still have at least one English call centre.

And if you are deaf like I am they are an absolute nightmare to deal with. They seem to have predetermined scripts which they insist on running through irrespective of what your problem actually is and if your problem doesn't fit in to the standard list you are stuffed!

Most people in Finland use online banking services, as do most of the other government agencies.  They use the banking login system as a type of ID verifications system.

Call centres here are not outsourced as they need to be able to speak at least 3 languages (english, swedish and Finnish) which makes it difficult for offshore call centres.  Also means they have a reasonable level of intellect

Yes I'm sure they have, that is exactly the problem I had, I couldn't make her understand why I could not login to my account, it can't have been on her computer screen  >>:-(
