electric motor types
« on: August 23, 2011, 05:40:50 pm »

What are the differences in electric motors that have labels like 500, 550 60, 900 etc.  Does it have to do with torque, number of windings, amp usage or what?  How does one determine what motor to use?  I build working boats in 1/32 to 1/24 scale about 28 to 50 inches in length and up to 35 pounds in weight.  In the past I have depended on my hobby shop people to select for me but would really like to know what I'm doing.   Thanks in advance for any and all information.   I just recently joined this forum and have already asked several questions for which I have been very pleased the the answers that the members have given me. %)
