There was another one a few years ago, that looked like a WWII U-boat, and
had an breakfast table and umbrella on the "winter garten".

knowing the L & L like I do, having sailed on it many times in my own narrow boat he'll never get past the first bridge without knocking his conning tower off, lol.

as for going up "Wigan Flight".........he'll probably get deapth charged by the locals, {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)

Neil I know what you mean about the "Wigan Flight", my brother got stuck there this summer when one of the lock gates collapsed
and he was visited several times by the less than friendly natives. But not as bad as the Forth/Clyde Canal - open warfare when you
go through the top end of Glasgow.

Union Canal in Edinburgh has some bandit country too. Had an ex RN guy name of Tug help a few times, he lived on a camouflaged "Swift boat"style cabin cruiser. Never had any trouble when he was aboard...funny that. {-)

the locks are regularly opened in the dead of night by the locals for you to find the whole flight empty of water in the morning, lol, but funilly I never had any probs myself, just used to keep my cam corder hanging round my neck.the natives don't like being filmed, lol......must all have something to hide.. {-) {-) {-)

The Royal Navy did something like that in the 70's I think, they had a sub, destroyer and something else.  They used them for a recruitment drive, don't know what happened to them though.  They were manned by the Navy and went all over the country.
