I'm a convert to 2.4 Ghz

I took my 1/16 Trent down to the lake this morning to test my new 2.4ghz Planet T5 combo setup before the flippin' pedaloes took over.

All I can say is RESULT! No more motor stuttering like I used to get on my 40 Mhz setup, Trent ran really smoothly with no problems. The only thing I don't really like about the Planet is the ratchet-based throttle control. It's not a major issue, once the ESCs are tuned into it properly, but I may get a spring conversion kit. That said, the ratchet system does make it much easier to maintain a constant speed and is easier on the thumb. Swings and roundabouts, I guess  :-)

At 45 squids it is a bargain - no frills, but very nicely made and, hopefully, I will have many hours of relaxation with it.

Although I've not yet used it in the company of other boaters, I'm sure that it will be fine, with no interference (I'm so trusting), and I would recommend it for ease of use - the receiver bound very easily and I have now fitted one in Sentinel as well, so she'll be off to the lake next time as well.

Happy Days!  :-))

Agreed - as regards the stick, I have long preferred the "engine room telegraph" approach for scale boats, the only downside is the lack of a definite "off" position.  The extra channels available on all but the most basic of outfits are a bonus as well, all that extra functionality for the same price as a two channel set.
While the radios are more or less proof against motor generated interference, you can still get back EMFs appearing on the power leads from motors and relays upsetting the various servos etc.  It has also been discussed on another thread on here ( http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=32009.0 ) that it is possible for the radios to interfere with each other, so nothing's perfect.
