LOL Dave.

Yes the Valleys, and especially the rivers, are certainly cleaner now, and so beautiful. This is the best time of the year for a scenic drive, in my opinion, as the colours are incredible.  :-)

Anybody over 40 that does not have a bad back is an exception & is probably not working hard enough. Seriously though it is the most miserable way to be, hope you recover soon, Mick B.

Tourist are "grockles" up here in the Lakes....couldn't tell you why....I think it's vicking for "don't you know some of us have places to get to?"  >>:-(
Thanks for all the good wishes. I'm feeling much better...just sore now but at least mobile.

When the dreaded 'back' starts up, I just remember one of Billy Connolly's stories, when giving sympathy to old Tam about his really bad cough, Tam stated "the graveyards full of people that would love to have my problems"   %% %% %%

Agree with Dickyd, keep moving and as upright as possible.Been there too many times, usually happens if i bend the back just slightly.  If a trapped nerve, then massive sympathy, been there once, dont want it again.  Love the caption from Dickyd, fell over laughing.  Quick recovery and best wishes

Was told of a treatment that worked for a number of friends, so I gave it a try. Gentle, no harsh medicine in any shape or form.
Had an hours treatment on 2 Sept, result is almost magical, no pain or restriction in movement. Oh the delight of free movement with no pain!
For info look up Bowen-Therapy.
Usual disclaimers, I'm just a very satisfied customer, well worth a serious look at.

Good luck,
Regards.

Thanks for this information about Bowens Therapy

My wife who has suffered from a bad back for 30 years, three years ago had a spinal fusion operation which went wrong and had two other ops to correct the first one, which has left her in constant pain and has been on 70mg of morphine daily since the operations, plus numerous other medications for nerve pain.

She went for her first session of Bowens on Wednesday of this week, and is now able to sit in a chair normally for the first time since the ops, normally she is sat there writhing in pain. The person who did the Bowens said to her it may be a few days before she felt any benefit, she was correct in that. My wife has said she will most definitely  be going back for more treatment.

A t first I was sceptical about the treatment, but thought, we have tried everything else we may as well try this because if you don't try you never will know.
So thanks again for the pointer to Bowens therapy.

Matphoto,
So delighted that someone has gained from the info. Like you, at first, I was very wary of the treatment but am now a real convert.
I've had three sessions now ( for different problems ) and I have found it just short of magic.
Needed a session this morning having done myself a real mischief (don't even ask how I did it!) but I was in agony and barely able to walk. One hour later, to my delight, I walked out of the room with no problems.
I've had it explained just how it works, am I bothered? No way, it works well for most people and very well for others. I'm one of the lucky ones for whom it works brilliiantly.
I hope your wife continues to improve.
Best wishes.

As a sufferer with back pain I have researched this and next time it happens I shall consult someone. Mine lasts around a week and can be crippling.

For those interested in the Bowen Therapy, here is a You Tube film demonstrating and explaining the  system.

Hope this helps

For those interested in the Bowen Therapy,

I hope it has nothing to do with this bloke

I can't see how watching re-runs of bullseye could help with back pain :D
