Problem with my setup - Arun Lifeboat
« on: October 02, 2011, 04:35:55 pm »

I need help....

Setup -
Boat - 1/12 Arun - 52" long
Motors -Twin screw - running 4250 800kv
ESC's - Seaking 60A ESC for each motor
Power - 2*12v 7amp lead acid independantly powering ESC's
Cooling - The ESC's are water cooled and dont get hot at all and the motors are cooled via a PC fan which means they barly get warm.

Issue - 1 of the motors has tones of power the other only has 1/3?

Last Wednesday 1 of the wires on the low power motor decided to melt the solder on the connection, repaired and motor opperates fine except still low power, i am sure this issue has been present before this melt occured?

Side note after 30mins of running today the full power motor also dropped down to the same power - shortly after the battery went.

I have not had chance to replace the batteries and re-test as I had to come to work but does anyone have any idea why A) the wires got that hot that the solder melted B) why the low power on the 1 motor???

Just read a possible issue/cause if someone could clarify, i have not disabled BEC on 1 of the ESC's! Damn it! also looks like it could have perminanatly affected the ESC? I will have to try and test with 1 BEC disabled.
