Hi everyone, is there a particular place on the hull to place a fire monitor water pickup. The hull is the Billings Tug  Smit Nederland, thanks, Mick B.

Should not think it matters Mick, as long as it is below the waterline.

I would put it underneath the hull at the bottom near the keel, though as I say it doesn't really matter. :-))

:D...hullo Mick.......a point of consideration is the type of water you may sail on..........

If it were weedy or a sandy bottom....you could consider mounting the water inlet just below the prop shaft axis with the actual suction facing ~~~~~generally AFT  O0

This accomplishes two things......1] you minimise any chance of weed blocking the suction....2] same for prop wash bringing up sand as the flow of water from the prop is away from the prop when going FWD......>>:-(

Thanks both of you guys, I was beginning to think the lot of you were down at the pub getting sloshed,( which is not a bad idea sometimes) What you both say makes sense to me but what would I know,I'm sure learning fast though. Now I will put a dreaded hole in the hull. The water in Canada is sparkling clean didn't you know, thats where the water comes from for "CANADA DRY" LOL.  Mick B.

ARTY, We are in the top part of the planet, a long way from OZ. I don't know the Aussie word for pub, but all the Aussies I know could find their way there in pitch darkness & blind too. Mick B.

DickyD, you should be in bed, but then we trail you by 7 hours. I am a late night person myself. I feel sleeping is an awful waste of time if you can avoid it LOL. Mick B.
