Where can I get this Hose?
« on: March 17, 2007, 01:25:45 am »

I'm after some of this type of hose for my boat, I've seen it on many steam projects but cannot find out where to get it from. I need about 5/16 dia but 3/8 or there about will do,

thanks  Peter

Peter,

Just a thought, but I'd try a washing machine repair shop.

Yes, Ian, now I remember where I bought some years ago. It was for the sink drain on a boat (full size) and was available from caravan/camping shops and from boat chandlers.

Hi there Peter,

Is the piping you require actually going to be used to pipe fluid?  If not, I have used, in the past, I have used net curtain wire (the stuff you hang the nets up with) If you cut your length of wire and gently warm that over an open flame it corrugates it more.   If that isnt the correct diameter what I would so next was wrap string around the outside of the curtain wire and then covered that with electricians' heat shrink and that gives a good effect.   If it would help I can post a diagram  8) and before our DickyD says anything - we have glass in our windows up North with no iron bars across them  ::) ::)

just re-read your opening post Peter, and Im having a bad day - have you thought of what they use on the automatic outlet pipes for automatic washing machines and that sort of product.   aye its this cold getting to me!!!

aye

If it is small diameter, I got the hose off one of those cheapo airbed footpumps.

There is also the flexible copper pipe you get for plumbing jobs.

If the hose doesn't carry fluid, try a spring covered with heat shrink

That looks good riggers  I think you know what it's for , the suction hose on the crashtender , they don't have to take water, so that looks good in that I can find some springs and some shrink.. Thanks to all that came back. Peter

Check out electrical wholesalers for flexible conduit.  Comes in all sorts of diameters and you can buy it by the length at the good outlets.

Try a water garden shop/centre. They stock the stuff for pond filters, I have seen some small dia. but don't know how small it goes.

I used the method  riggers24 suggested and hear are my efforts, the one on the picture was finished when I decided to take a skim of the pipe end  $£&****  for an hour or so and start again.
riggers24 are you still building your fire boat? if so I may have some think for you.
