Battery pack construction and connections
« on: October 04, 2011, 08:42:41 pm »

Hi,
I'm planning to build a sub with an external 12v D cell pack.
Any thoughts on the pack construction and the connections required both battery and WTC end?

Thanks

My Neptune has the battery pack for the lights out in the flood area, all I do is to cover the connections with Vaseline every now and again.

Most of my subs have had either gel cells or nicad/nimhs battery packs out in the free flood area and I've never had any problems with them, a smear of Vaseline over the connections seems to do the job perfectly.

As for connections...I use all sorts, chocolate boxes, the bullet connectors from the motor trade, brass tube covered in silicone tubing, the list is endless.

Take a look at the pics below, they may give you a few ideas. There's plenty more on our website which may help you out...
