Ebay should have much better checks in place before someone can set up an account, at the very least a proven, checked valid address with contact details. Dave.  >:-o >:-o >:-o

The completed listings says he's successfully sold the same boat 3 times!

Managed to file a report with ebay saying the item appears to be someone else's.

The level of detail on the boat cant be anything other than the same one.

I've filed a report on ebay too, would be interesting to hear what Ron Patterson thinks about it. Would be good it those photos on ebay could be traced to a website, Dave.  >:-o

Hi

I looked on google street view and the address exists, but a quick people search on 192.com didn't show an A or Andrew Horsley in Old Swan. I really hate dishonesty.

he's not only tried to pull this one, but only a week or so ago he had the same worded advert on a listing for a fully built Tamar 1;12 scale boat, on a buy it now for £650 and it sold within an hour of going on, so it looks as though he has also conned someone for £650 for a tamar that didn't therefor exist, and I'm sure that I recognised the boat as someone's on here....there was also a link to the boat sailing on you tube but can't find it at the mo.

so has anyone bought a tamar on here for £650 in the last 10 days and is waiting for it............definately a con, and this sort of thing  was rife in the motor section for about 18 months ..lets hope it's not going to filter down to model boats. >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(

I just looked at his two remaining posts for motorbike stuff. Interesting both were posted from ebay mobile. So is it easier to scam from a phone than a computer with an IP address?

If you look at the state of the spelling,in the advert, and the way its worded, definately a foriegner scammer

I have ebay mobile on my iphone, you still need to be registered to use it.

However, if hes using a dodgy address, and a pay as you go simcard, its possible he would get away with it. But paypal would have to release funds into a bank account anyway..

Quite a few people these days use a mobile as their only phone... no land line.

Yes I understand no land line is possiblebut I think most people have access to computers. I googled the address and got

Property type: Terraced | Tenure: Freehold | Last sale:£83,500 | Sale date: 12th Oct 2009 and now has an estimate value of £74,026

It's amazing what's on the web about us all - and I have almost no computer skills.

I know hindsight is a marvelous thing but if I was paying hundreds for somethin from ebay regardless of reputable feedback or not, I would want to pick up in person and see the goods before parting with the money.  An item for a tenner, 50 or even say 75 quid I would risk to paypal but hundreds no.  And any item that says pick up or delivery only after cleared funds just sets the alarm bells ringing.  I tried to buy a Lamby frame and bits last year for a bargain buy it now price but even though it was only 25 miles away and I could pick up in an hour the seller insisted I pay by paypal first then pick up.  I walked away.  I really do hope you have your money refunded and these robbing Bs are brought to book.

And he's got 100% feedback, because of 9 items he bought, and 3 he scammed ,to leave feedback.
Would never buy of someone, without less than 100 positive feedbacks, been bitten before

You're right, knew I'd seen those Tamar photos somewhere. Also on Ron Pattersons Trent the 14-14 on the rear of the superstructure is a little small, exactly same in one 'allegedly' for sale/sold, Dave.  >:-o

Hi Every one here is the con mans phone number 07572420269
If we all keep ring it and sending him text then the phone will become useless to the con man.
he will have to turn it of or get a new sim
kind regards

I saw this and read it and was particularly taken by the offer to deliver anywhere in the UK for £40 (which was £50 in the postage section above) It seemed like an outstanding offer, too good to be true and made me think about how trusting most of us are about the 'tales of woe' increasingly seen in listings - along with the appalling picture quality and minimal descriptions some think are acceptable. I hope ebay take this up and involve the police, it would be nice to see someone involve the media and get some reassuring feedback and constructive comment from the very anonymous people at ebay and paypal. I think this is on the increase and need to feel that these massive and profitable companies are bothered!!
This makes me very angry  >>:-(
